Have you ever walked into a place and exclaimed,”This is the best thing I have ever seen”? That was me when I finally had the chance to visit The Orange Show in Houston. Located on what is quickly becoming my favorite street in town, Munger Street, this artistic creation is a few feet from Smither Park.
The Orange Show was created by Jeff McKissack. A local mail carrier, Mr. McKissack collected used objects and from 1956-1980 used those to build this colorful corner of the world. He was the sole artist, building and tiling the entire space. Upon his death, his ashes were scattered on the property. If I were him I wouldn’t have wanted to leave either!
I could go on for days about how much I loved this place. However, in a case such as this it is best you see visuals! Behold The Orange Show.
Now orange you glad you were introduced to The Orange Show! I apologize for the silly joke, but I couldn’t help myself! 😉
To Plan a Visit:
Located at 2401 Munger Street in Houston, Texas the show is a quick trip from downtown. To plan your own trip to The Orange Show check out their website here for hours and more info.

Your photos are so much fun and the Orange Show looks amazing! I would have taken about 6 mil more photos if I was there because it looks kinda retro-ish and just an overall cool vibe…. too bad Cleveland is too far away or I’d have been there girl!
Thank you Karen! It was so hard to choose the photos to use because I did take about 100. It is so retro and bright! I want to live there! LOL! If you ever visit Houston I will take you there!
This is definitely the most eclectic place ever! I know my sister would love it since she loves retro, thrifty kind of places.
Amy it really is! Such a testament of how a little paint and a lot of work can turn anything into a beautiful work of art!

You should definitely visit one day! It is much more than most people expect! I just wouldn’t recommend July or August unless you don’t mind really hot weather!
I love your orange joke at the end! What a neat little place, makes me wish I had gone to Houston when my husband went on a business trip there!

If I ever find myself in Texas, I’ll check this place out. It reminds me of an amusement park for some reason. An old one that was shut down.
