The number one question that I get on the Channelling Dolly Facebook and Instagram pages is where do I take my photos. Houston is such a vast city with so many great locations for photography. Like any other large city Houston is also constantly changing so there is always a new favorite place on the horizon. Below you will find a list of Houston’s most Instagram worthy hotspots!
Truck Yard
Truck Yard located at 2118 Lamar Street is my newest obsession. What could possibly be more Instagram worthy than a spot with a Ferris wheel? I will tell you what! A place with not only a Ferris wheel but also a retro vibe, old neon signs, colorful murals and a rotating list of food trucks.
The Orange Show
The Orange Show located at 2401 Munger Street has been featured on Channelling Dolly before here, but no list of Houston’s most Instagram worthy spots would be complete without it. It is hard to describe the Orange Show. However, whimsical, vivid and creative are words that immediately come to mind.
Silver Street Studios

For gorgeous murals this spot at 2000 Edwards is a one stop location. There are so many different paintings that there is something for everyone.
Downtown Houston
Downtown Houston has become a great place for photography. From the We Love Houston sign located behind 8th Wonder Brewery at 2202 Dallas Street to the sculpture below in Discovery Green there is no shortage of photo ops. The murals below located on St. Emmanuel near Bell Street are everchanging. Due to the fact that you never know what you will find there it is one of the places I go to most often.
The Harrisburg Art Museum

Located at 4200 Harrisburg the Harrisburg Art Museum is a warehouse full of graffiti art and murals. This is another location that is constantly changing with new works of art. The talented artists that paint these murals are so inspiring.
Smither Park
When I am in need of a creative spark I always find myself heading to Smither Park. This location has been featured on Channelling Dolly before here. However I get so many questions about this location each time I post pictures of it that I could not leave it out of this list. There are still artists at the park weekly adding to the mosaic artwork which is already plentiful.
Just outside of Houston…
Located just outside of Houston in Baytown, Texas this is one of the newest locations I have photographed. The umbrella installation is on Texas Avenue near Ashbel Street in a small alley between buildings. If possible go on a cloudy day or very early in the morning as the sun casts shadows through the umbrellas.
Have you checked out any of Houston’s most Instagram worthy hotspots? Do you have any to add to the list? If so please share!
